First week check in:
We are 7 days into our first month of book club- How is everyone doing?
A few takeaways from the first few chapters are:
Trauma exists in the body. And by doing body practices, we can learn to tell when our body is open or constricted, when it is settled, or activated…
The differences between Dirty Pain and Clean Pain
“Healing involves discomfort, but so does refusing to heal. And over time, refusing to heal is always more painful”
As a yoga teacher, who has lived experience with chronic pain, the practice of turning inwards is something I've become very familiar with. But for many, it can be a difficult practice met with resistance. Wherever you find yourself on the spectrum, give yourself grace, and keep showing up.
I’m looking forward to walking over the bridge that Resmaa Menakem teaches us about in My Grandmother’s Hands; The one that connects our generational trauma and systemic racism.
Hopefully we can be on this journey together!
